Did You Receive a Transvaginal Mesh Implant and Experience Serious Complications?
If you received a transvaginal mesh implant and have experienced complications due to the device or to mistakes made during surgery, you have a right to compensation for your pain and suffering. The manufacturers of dangerous mesh implants should be held accountable for injuries caused by their faulty products. Please contact us today for a free consultation during which we can discuss your experience and the best course of action for your case.
Surgical mesh implants used to repair Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) have been linked to greater risk of painful and long-term complications than other treatments. Even worse, the risky transvaginal mesh (also called a patch) does not offer any additional benefits compared to traditional methods, only increasing the risk for patients.

Serious Complications with Transvaginal Mesh
In October of 2008, the FDA issued an urgent public health notification to doctors and hospitals regarding serious complications associated with Transvaginal Mesh Devices and their placement in repair of Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP) and Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). Within the last three years, the FDA has received over thousands of reports from at least nine surgical mesh manufacturers regarding serious complications related to Transvaginal Mesh Devices. The following list is the most popular manufacturers and their products:

- Prolene Polypropylene Mesh Patch
- Secur
Bard
- Avaulta PlusTM BioSynthetic Support System
- Avaulta SoloTM Synthetic Support System
- Faslata® Allograft
- Pelvicol® Tissue
- PelviSoft® Biomesh
- PelvitexTM Polypropylene Mesh
American Medical Systems (AMS)
- SPARC®
Boston Scientific
- AdvantageTM Sling System
- Obtryx® Curved Single

Also included are manufacturers like Tyco, Mentor, and Methicon.
A 2011 study released by the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Canada (JOGC) on Transvaginal Mesh Device procedures stated, “Until adequate effectiveness and safety evidence is available, the use of new TVM devices for [POP and SUI] repair should be considered experimental and restricted to use in investigative trials.” We have provided the full JOGC report here.
Frequent Symptoms & Complications
The most frequent complications, other than POP and SUI, include erosion through vaginal epithelium, infection, pain, and urinary problems. There have also been reports of bowel, bladder, and blood vessel perforation during, or as a result of, sexual intercourse. In some cases, vaginal scarring and mesh erosion led to a significant decrease in patient quality of life due to discomfort, pain, and embarrassment.
